Wholesale Loose Diamonds - Myth or Reality

In theory, a person can save lots of money purchasing a wholesale loose diamond. In theory, you can also build your own rocket and fly to the moon ... and truth is, the moon shot is probably the better bet. Most people reading this article will be far better if they buy a certified diamond graded by the "GIA", (Gemological Institute of America) or "EGL " (European Gem Lab) than purchasing a non-certified diamond purportedly sold "wholesale" to a buyer outside the diamond business. That doesn't mean you shouldn't shop "wholeale" diamond and jewerly stores. It DOES mean that you shouldn't fall in love with the word "wholesale".

Have you ever bought a new car? You know then that every new car has a "dealers cost" below which they NEVER SELL the car. Diamonds also have a "dealer cost" at which brokers actively buy and sell diamonds to each other. Since they are in business to make money, they don't sell stones to retail customers for less money than another dealer. It keeps the stone in circulation and they may buy it back the same day or the next day if they find a retial customer to buy and earn more money.

As investments, diamonds may be compared to stocks and bonds, real estate, commodities, etc. but for most people they are priceless symbols of love meant to last a lifetime. Stock brokers don't give deals on GM stock at 30% below market on the NY Stock Exchange. Keeping this in mind... shop every outlet that deals in certified diamonds and we wish you lots of luck and love with your diamond purchases
